It’s also the one village that has created these wares continuously since the 14th century. Today more than 300 firms in Deruta are at work producing majolica. At these firms, the tin-glazing techniques and the shapes, patterns and colors have come down through the centuries from one generation to the next. With all their variety, these functional, collectible ceramic pieces are uniquely Deruta.
